This policy explains what the apps listed below do with your information. It is published in English and applies to all of these apps, whichever language you use the app in.
In short: you do not need an account, nothing you type is sent to us, and the only information that leaves your device goes to Google for showing ads and for basic app stability reporting.
Apps covered by this policy
- Jain Panchang & Calendarcom.dipali.jaincalendar
Each app's Google Play listing links to this page. If an app is not on this list, this policy does not cover it.
Information the apps collect
Information you provide
None. The apps do not ask you to register, sign in, or give a name, email address or phone number. Your settings — the city you have chosen, reminders you have set, and similar preferences — are saved on your device and stay there. Uninstalling the app removes them.
Location
Panchang timings such as tithi, pachkhan, choghadiya, sunrise and sunset change with where you are, so the app needs a location to calculate them. You choose a city from the built-in list, and the app keeps that choice on your device. If an app offers to detect your location instead, it only does so after you grant Android's location permission, and it uses the result to select the nearest city. Your location is used for these calculations and is not stored on any server run by us.
You can withdraw location permission at any time in Android Settings, under Apps, then the app, then Permissions. The app keeps working — you pick your city by hand.
Separately, Google's advertising services may estimate an approximate location from your IP address. This is described below.
Advertising and diagnostic information
The apps show advertisements supplied by Google AdMob, and use Google Play services. Through these, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising ID and other device or app identifiers;
- your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it;
- device details such as model, operating system version, language and screen size;
- information about how ads were served and interacted with;
- crash reports and basic stability diagnostics, so problems in the app can be found and fixed.
We receive this only as aggregated reporting — counts and totals that do not identify you. We never see the contents of your device, your contacts, your files or your messages.
Advertising
Ads pay for the apps, which is why they are free. They are served by Google AdMob, whose handling of data is described in how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in the Google Privacy Policy.
Depending on where you are and what you have agreed to, ads may be personalised — chosen using your advertising ID and past activity — or non-personalised, chosen only from the app's context. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows a consent screen the first time it runs, where you can accept or refuse personalised ads. You can reopen that screen from the app's settings and change your answer.
Anywhere in the world, you can limit ad personalisation from your device: open Android Settings, then Privacy or Google, then Ads, and choose to delete or reset your advertising ID. You will still see ads, but they will not be based on your advertising ID.
Sharing
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. Information is shared only with Google, in its role as our advertising and app-services provider, in the ways described above. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to investigate fraud or a security problem.
Permissions the apps ask for
- Internet and network state — needed to load ads and to download updated calendar and festival data.
- Location (optional) — used only to pick the nearest city for timing calculations. Refusing it does not limit the app.
- Notifications (optional) — used to remind you about a tithi, festival or fasting time you have asked to be reminded of. Reminders are generated on your device.
- Audio playback — used to play the mantras and paths included in the app.
How long information is kept
Settings and preferences stay on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Information held by Google is kept according to Google's own retention policies, which are set out in the Google Privacy Policy linked above.
Security
Data sent between the apps and Google's services is encrypted in transit. Because the apps do not run an account system or a server that stores your personal information, there is no database of users to be lost or stolen. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be promised.
Children
These apps are made for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through one of these apps, write to the address below and it will be deleted.
Your rights and choices
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, withdraw location permission, change your ad-personalisation consent, or uninstall the app — each of these takes effect immediately and none of them requires our involvement.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability over personal data relating to you. If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act gives you comparable rights. Because we hold no account or profile about you, most of these requests are best directed to Google, which processes the advertising data. For anything within our control, write to the address below and you will get a reply within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
This page is updated when the apps change or when the law requires it. The effective date at the top shows when the current version took effect. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
